I haven’t gotten the chance to change my old
painting tutorials so they are updated to how I am currently painting my
Necrons. Some of the tutorials are the same
but most are very similar but have some minor changes that will speed it up a
little bit. I haven’t gotten the chance
to take Pictures yet so I made this in the meantime till I can make proper
ones. This has tutorials for everything except Power Weapons, Res Orbs and Energy Orbs. Also I have painted another 3
Immortals so I have 5 Immortals and 1 Destroyer Lord done at this time.<o:p></o:p></div>

<br />
My Destroyer Lord is finally finished. I started it on Saturday and didn't finish until tonight finished it tonight. I usually don't paint any HQ models until I paint a minimum of 1 or 2 troop choices. But since I started like 2 months ago on this army and kept changing the paint scheme I need something fun to paint because all I have really painted up until now is Immortals.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<br />
I am really happy with how it turned out it is one of my most favorite models I have ever painted. I ended up going with Purple for the Power Weapons and I am really happy how it looks and ties into the paint scheme. For those of you want to know were I got the different pieces the head and torso are from the Lynchguard and Praetorian box and the warscythe and res orb from the barge box. Some how I lost his stand so I used one from a barge box till I get a new.<br />

<br />
Right Now I only have these 3 models painted. I need to speed this army up because I cant wait to see what it looks like when its done. I am also planning on doing new painting tutorials for my updated paint scheme hopefully soon.<br />

<br />
Hey everyone its been like 2 weeks since my last posts. I've been swamped with school and stuff so I haven't gotten around to the blog lately or even much painting. I was hoping you guys could help me out though because I can't figure out what color to make the Power Weapons on My Necrons. I ended up going back to a paint scheme very similar to my 1st paint scheme since It looked a lot better. These only take me about half the time of the first ones but look just as good I think maby even a little better. Here's a pic of my 1st 2 Immortals<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YZWd91-2Bp0/USKHP6TARVI/AAAAAAAAAVs/wWy0iAH_FdA/s1600/2+mins+new+paint.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YZWd91-2Bp0/USKHP6TARVI/AAAAAAAAAVs/wWy0iAH_FdA/s1600/2+mins+new+paint.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
The Pics down below show what the different color Power Weapons look like painted. I haven't figured out how I am going to paint the orbs yet that are Part of the Weapons but I am going to stick to the same green color that I painted on the test ones. This is the same Green that I use to Paint the Energy and Gauss Weapons. The 3 colors I am debating between are:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
1. Red Same as the armor<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is my Test Overlord I used to try my New Paint scheme. This is what the Red Power Weapon looks like with the Paint scheme</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
2. Blue Same as the Tubes<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m4zndGquYHU/USKGQ0AFK1I/AAAAAAAAAVU/Eg9CSloLht4/s1600/Blue+PW.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m4zndGquYHU/USKGQ0AFK1I/AAAAAAAAAVU/Eg9CSloLht4/s1600/Blue+PW.JPG" width="290" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
3. Purple cause Purple is an awesome color<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2fMXVgjY_go/USKGYmsdrhI/AAAAAAAAAVc/b1m9jrPo3mo/s1600/Purple+PW.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2fMXVgjY_go/USKGYmsdrhI/AAAAAAAAAVc/b1m9jrPo3mo/s1600/Purple+PW.JPG" width="306" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is a pic with the Blue and Purple Power Weapons Next to a finished model so you can see how they would look together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Necron Canoptek Wraiths are pretty cool models. They are a lot cooler then the Wraith models
that preceded them. This unit is considered
by many people to be the premier close combat unit in the Necron army. These
guys also have quite a few upgrade options that all come with the box however
the only one that is really worthwhile in opinion is the whip coils which causes
any models in base contact have its initiative reduced to 1. I plan on running
2 6 man squads in my army because close combat is my favorite phase and these
guys also have awesome rules as well. So let’s get to the Box Review and for
those of you that haven’t read one of my box reviews before I use a 5 point
system to judge the models including looks, Easiness to Assemble, Mold Lines,
and Value for Money. So now onto the Box review:<o:p></o:p></div>

Mold Lines: 3/5 Points - This is a newer kit so the mold
lines aren't that bad but they are still their so I can’t give it a 5. However compared to other newer kits I gave
them a 3 because it is a real pain to get rid of the mold lines on all the different
arms as well as the tails.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Value for Money: 2.5 /5 Points- I gave this kit a 2.5

really don’t get any extra bits either<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
This box comes with 3 sprews that are all pretty much the
exact same. The only difference between
the 3 sprews is the tails. One thing I
have noticed is some of the pieces of this kit can break very easily mainly the
whip coils so be careful when handling and assembling them. Even then I imagine this is a piece that will
easily break during game play or transportation. So if you haven’t invested in a foam
transport case for your army this will be a unit I would suggest it for if they
are armed with whip coils. Another
option would be to not glue the whip coil arms in so then you can switch them
out with the regular arms and transport them easier. If you go this route you shouldn't need to magnetize
them because the way the kit goes together the arms have pins in them already
so they should stick on by themselves.
The only real pain about this kit is the mold lines on the arms. There
are around 12 arms and it really feels like it takes forever to get rid of all
the mold lines. Overall though there is
not a real lot to say about this kit it is pretty straight forward and it not
that hard to assemble it just takes time if you do it right.<o:p></o:p></div>

really cool one. Their fluff says that they
phase in and out of reality while moving.
So this guy made them so it looks like they are moving through terrain. I cant rember were I saw it or I would have put a picture with this post but it really is an awsome conversion. It is a pretty cool conversion and the only
real original idea I have ever seen when it comes to converting Wraiths because
they way the kit is there is not a real lot of conversion ideas that come to
mind. There is also one other conversion
I have seen the Wraith Destroyer Lord.
Basically you use the Wraith tail and then a Lords torso to make
different looking Destroyer Lord. However
I have not seen this done with the newer Wraith models the conversion I’ve seen
used the older medal ones<o:p></o:p></div>

This box review is on the Necron Lychguard / Triarch
Praetorians box. These are my favorite Necron models I just love the way both
of these units look. I also think that
the fluff for these guys is sick I mean how are these guys not awesome look and
fluff wise. Most people hate on both of
these units and say this box is only good for making Lords and Crypteks. I am
planning on using the Praeorians with an attached Destroyer Lord for my list
and if I go with an Overlord on foot I plan on putting him with a Sword and
Shield Lynchguard squad. I believe to get the best out of either of these squads
you need an attached IC with a Resurrection Orb. For the Praetorians the only character
available is a Destroyer Lord because they are Jump Infantry and Either an
Overlord or a regular Lord would work for the Lynchguard. So let’s get to the Box Review and for those

This box comes with 3 sprews and like a lot of the newer GW
unit Boxes it only contains enough bits to make 5 guys. However it is a dual unit
box so you get lots of extra useful bits. For those of you that may not know
you should always keep your bits if you can because they may be useful in the
future for conversions or if you need a replacement piece also you can sell
your bits to other people or to some companies and stores.<o:p></o:p></div>

Depending on which
way you choose to arm them will be a big difference in the time it will take
you to assemble them. If you arm them
with Warscythes then it won’t take you to long however if you go with the sword
and shield option it will take a lot longer.
The shields are hard to cut out of the sprew because you can easily cut
out part of the shield with it. I found the easiest way is to leave the part
the extends from the sprew still attached when you cut it off and then use an Hobby
knife to cut the extra plastic off. This takes a little longer and is more work
but looks a lot better in the end.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Also the sword arms
and the single Warscythe arm will need to be pinned. This is because the joint
is not strong enough to hold when painting it and even if does hold it will
easily brake in the future so avoid a lot of problem in the future pin it now.
If you don’t know how to pin its easy just take a hobby drill and drill a whole
in both sides of the joint. In this case
drill a hole in both the hand and forearm then insert a medal rod I use paper
clips then glue the two pieces together with the rod in he hole and you will
have a much stronger joint.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">

The only thing I really don’t like about the Practorians is the tails so I am
planning on using the loin cloths from the Lynchguard unit on them instead.
However I haven’t fully assembled one yet since I paint my models in pieces so
will see how it looks after their done.
If you are like most people and paint your models whole I would suggest
not attaching the back piece until after you paint the model because it will be
nearly impossible to paint their backs with that thing attached. Assembly wise these
guys aren't too bad. The hardest part is after you assemble them is when you
try to get rid of the gap in the shoulder pads.
This is a huge pain because unlike all the other units they have their
jet packs attached to their shoulder pads so you cant really file it down
easy. I used green stuff and tried to
use an emery board so smooth it out but it couldn't reach everywhere. So I had
to break out my files which I haven’t used in a long time since I started to
use the Emery boards. The reason I
prefer the Emery Boards is I find that the files can leave fine line in the
model after you file the mold lines off.
However in the past I still used them and then used the emery boards to
smooth it over. Now however I go the GW cleanup kit and that tool is amazing I haven’t
need files in forever and any mold lines that tool can’t reach I have my hobby
knife for.<o:p></o:p> I haven't assembled the sword and pistol Praetorians and don't plan on it so I cant comment on them.</div>

This Review is about the Necron Catacomb Command Barge /
Annihilation Barge box. I think this is an awesome kit and I love both models especially
the Command Barge. I like how the Command Barge is so unique and no other army that I can think of has an HQ
transport like it. From what I've heard
the Command Barge is not as good as it was in 5th edition. However if you run a pair of them they get a lot
better. As far as the Annihilation Barge goes I think it is a cool model and
for only 90 Points you can’t beat it. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
I believe that this
kit is an essential for any New Necron Player and I would Highly Recommend
picking at least one up if you start a Necron Army. I personaly have bought 5
of these kits and just assembled the first one yesterday as an Annihilation
Barge. I got 5 of these kits because I
want to have the max amount of these things to take in a game and after I assemble
all of them I will have 2 Command Barges and 3 Annihilation Barges. So let’s
get to the Box Review and for those of you that haven’t read one of my box
reviews before I use a 5 point system to judge the models including looks,
Easiness to Assemble, Mold Lines, and Value for Money. So now onto the Box
review:<o:p></o:p><br />

<u>Looks</u>: 5/5 Points – I had to give it a 5 because these are
sick looking models. The only thing is
that the Overlord that comes with the model is nowhere near as cool looking as
the finecast one. However I still had to give it a 5 out of 5.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<u>Easiness to Assemble</u>: 3/5 Points- This kit is not the
easiest to assemble because they are vehicles. I am use to assembling rhinos
which are a lot simpler in my opinion compared to the high-tech Necron Vehicles. You need to read the INSTRUCTIONS when
assembling these things or you will be lost.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<u>Mold Lines</u>: 4/5 Points - This is a newer kit so the mold
lines aren’t that bad but they are still their so I can’t give it a 5<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<u>Value for Money</u>: 5/5 Points- I gave this kit a 5 because in
my opinion it is a good deal for the money as far as GW kits go. You also get an Overlord thrown in with this
kit which makes it an even better value for your money.<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So Overall I would give this Box: 4.5/5 Points<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
This box comes with 3 sprews and when you look at it, it can
be very confusing. Thank God GW numbers all the pieces so they are easy to find. With this kit you can
either make the Command Barge or the Annihilation Barge but it shouldn't be
hard to make it so you can switch between the 2. This is because the body is the same it is
only the top part of the vehicle that is different. With The Command Barge having a Overlord
and the Annihilation Barge having a big ass gun. The Overlord can be a bit
tricky to cut out the feet will want to bend up when you cut out the legs so be
careful. My experience so far is that this kit is that it is not the easiest to
assemble but if you follow the instructions it won’t be that difficult. The kit is not the fastest to assemble either
because it has a lot of small pieces. I
really recommend not assembling the whole model before you paint it, because
you can miss a lot of detail if you paint this model whole. <o:p></o:p><br />

I have my 1st 5 Immortals Painted. I was planning on switching to the purple
color scheme put they reminded me of Easter eggs after I painted a few of
them. This color scheme is very close to my original one I used a lot of the same colors. My plan is to paint all my troops
with the silver bodies and red shoulder pads/ heads. I am thinking of painting my HQ and Elites
with the red torsos and black solder pads like my old color scheme was. <o:p></o:p></div>

These only take around a third of the time to paint compared
to my original color scheme. I painted
the red parts, black parts, blue tubes and the energy the same. However the metal and gauss were painted
different. I used a lot a lot less high
lights this time, but I think in the end it looks just as good as before. I have to go back to school on Sunday which
really sucks but I plan on continuing my painting there. The only problem is I have no idea where to
spray paint my models at school. <o:p></o:p></div>

The other think I wanted to mention is I am planning on
getting an airbrush and one of those air machines I think is called a compressor
but I cant remember the name of right now.
I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations for a type of air
brush. I want to get a really good one
that will last and from what I hear they cost between 100 to 200 dollars for
one. I have never used an airbrush
before but I want to learn so I can speed up my painting and learn new
techniques. Also I will be adding new
tutorials for my new paint scheme but they will probably not be up until next
week maybe sooner because I got a lot of stuff to do before I go back to
school.<o:p></o:p></div>

<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The 2<span style="font-size: x-small;">nd</span> box I am going to review is the Necron Warrior box.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am not a huge fan of the Necron Warrior models in my opinion they could defiantly use a re-sculpt.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The mold lines are terrible and they have those cheesy green rods that look so stupid.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The one good thing about the Necron Warrior box is that you get 2 separate units with it for the price of one.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The second unit you get is Scarabs.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However since they don’t sell Scarabs separately this is the only way you can buy them unless you go through a company that sells bits.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So onto the review I use a 5 point system to rate the box.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Looks: 2/5 Points- I am only giving them a 2 out of 5 because as I've said they are not the best looking in my opinion which brought them down to a 3 and to top it off they have those green rods which brings them down another point in my opinion. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Easiness to Assemble: 4/5 Point- I gave them a 4 because they are extremely easy to assemble. The only problems I have had is with their guns. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Mold Lines: 1/5 Points-<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They got a 1 because the mold lines are terrible.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It takes as long to get rid of their mold lines as it takes to paint them maybe even longer.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Value for Money: 5/5 Points- I gave them a<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>5 because you get 2 units for the price of one with this box.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So Overall I would give this Box: 3/5 Points<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">In the box you get identical sprews along with the green tubes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You also get 2 different bases the bigger ones are for the Scarabs and the smaller ones are for the Warriors.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is an older GW kit so there are not going to be a bunch of extra bits. In fact I don’t believe you will be left with any extra bits.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So let’s talk about the warriors.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The main thing I will mention is the mold lines.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They take forever to get rid of and it can be very hard to get rid of all of them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I swear every time I think I have gotten rid of all the mold lines more seem to appear out of nowhere. The other thing I have noticed about half of the time after you have assemble the gun the barrel ends up crooked it seems that it is just the way the pieces fit together. But overall it is very easy to assemble the Warriors the only thing to remember is that the arms have to match up with each other. The guns use the green tubes if you don’t like them like me you can either paint over them or you can cut out the tubes from the Immortal gauss guns and use them to replace the green tubes.I have not done this conversion but I have seen it and it looks pretty good in my opinion.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Also if you do like the tubes you can get different colored tubes from other companies I have seen red,blue and purple ones. I can’t remember the company but if you search on some forums you should be able to find them no problem.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">There isn't a lot to say about the scarabs.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I will mention that they are supposed to be a swarm if I remember correctly but they only come with 3 or 4 per base which doesn't really look at all like a swarm to me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you want to make more you can always make a mold of one and then use green stuff or something similar to make your own.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have never done this but I know of a few people who have.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I personally like the forge world Scarabs better the ones that come with the Warrior box.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However the forge world ones are 16 pounds so I think that makes them around 25 to 30 dollars in the US which is way too much for only 3 bases.</span><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Need Help with New Paint Scheme: I Just Can't Decide</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The current paint scheme that I am using is taking way way
to long to paint.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I really like it but I
just don’t have the time to paint it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So
I came up with a new color scheme that take around a third of the time, but the
problem is I can’t decide should I go with the Purple with Blue Energy or go
with the same Red with Green Energy I used for my current paint scheme. So
basically should I switch the purple shoulder pads and head with red and the
energy with green or keep the purple with the blue energy. All my armies tend
to be red or red and grey and I have always wanted a purple army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UFUUnO2Ng-E/UOVAB4ght2I/AAAAAAAAAPc/0OjRU74BDfg/s1600/Purp+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UFUUnO2Ng-E/UOVAB4ght2I/AAAAAAAAAPc/0OjRU74BDfg/s1600/Purp+1.jpg" height="298" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"></span><o:p></o:p></span><br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I like how the test model I quickly painted turned out but I’m
still not sold on it yet because I like how well the green goes with the red.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I thought I would see what you guys think
this model was painted quickly so it not the best and I could not figure out
the colors for the cables.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am also
attaching a pic of my old color scheme so you can see the red with green energy
I am talking about.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So what do you guys
think I should use the purple or switch it with the red?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you
like the purple better than what color do you suggest for the cables. I am
planning on starting to Paint around 4 in the afternoon so Please Comment and
let me know what you think.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Review: Immortal/ Deathmark Box</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DaPGvzSxsGU/UOTRsvuUfbI/AAAAAAAAAOw/fSRCMzx4LpI/s1600/Imm+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DaPGvzSxsGU/UOTRsvuUfbI/AAAAAAAAAOw/fSRCMzx4LpI/s1600/Imm+1.jpg" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I really like the look of the Immortals and their rules that
is why they are going to be the main troop choice in my army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In my opinion the Necron Warriors are alright
models but they are just blah compared to the Immortals.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As far as the Deathmarks go I am not the
biggest fan of the model but they aren’t worst looking either and are pretty
good in 6<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span> edition from what I hear. I haven’t yet assembled any
Deathmarks so I can’t really comment a lot on them but I have lots of
experience with the Immortals. I am going to use a 5 point system to judge the
models including looks, Easiness to Assemble, Mold Lines, and Value for Money. So
now onto the Box review:<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Looks: 4/5 Points - I would have given them 5 but I am not
the biggest fan of the Deathmarks<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Easiness to Assemble: 3/5 Points- I gave them a 3 because of
how you need to match up certain pieces for it to fit together properly. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Mold Lines: 4/5 Points - This is a newer kit so the mold
lines aren’t that bad but they are still their so I can’t give it a 5<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Value for Money: 4/5 Points- I give it a 4 because you only
get 5 models brings its score down a couple paints. However it is a 2 unit box
so you get extra bits which brings it back up again<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So Overall I would give this Box: 4/5 Points</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_DDkGryMmCY/UOTR2nvR-xI/AAAAAAAAAO4/6LM5qxq4dcg/s1600/Imm+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_DDkGryMmCY/UOTR2nvR-xI/AAAAAAAAAO4/6LM5qxq4dcg/s1600/Imm+2.jpg" height="191" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The box comes with 2 sprews and like a lot of the newer GW
unit Boxes it only contains enough bits to make 5 guys. However it is a dual
unit box so you get lots of extra useful bits. For those of you that may not
know you should always keep your bits if you can because they may be useful in
the future for conversions or if you need a replacement piece also you can sell
your bits to other people or to some companies and stores. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DndmQvMRqnU/UOTR__4FG5I/AAAAAAAAAPA/bsn6elTbzTE/s1600/Imm+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DndmQvMRqnU/UOTR__4FG5I/AAAAAAAAAPA/bsn6elTbzTE/s1600/Imm+3.jpg" height="202" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The Immortals can be
a bit tricky to assemble right. It is<strong><u> VERY IMORTANT</u></strong> that you <u><strong>USE THE
INSTRUCTIONS</strong></u> when assembling the Immortals.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>This is because the tubes from the guns have to match the tubes from a
certain back and you have to put the tubes on the right gun as well its
complicated to explain.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As far as mold
lines they are not the worst since they are a newer kit but still have them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They are nowhere near as bad as the Necron
Warrior models when it comes to mold lines.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>These models have a lot of detail and if you want you could spend hours
and hours painting these.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another thing
is the solder pads and where the back and front of the torso meet tend to leave
a gap.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The best way to fill these gaps
is to use liquid Green Stuff.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GuY-Fm96Tt0/UOTSMKR0bFI/AAAAAAAAAPI/sfCf7D5xm6A/s1600/Imm+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GuY-Fm96Tt0/UOTSMKR0bFI/AAAAAAAAAPI/sfCf7D5xm6A/s1600/Imm+4.jpg" height="192" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So far my experiences have not been the best with this
kit.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I feel like I have been cursed when
painting and assembling my Immortals. I wasted my first box cause I didn’t read
the instructions but at least I can arm them with teslas instead to fix the
problem.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The problems didn’t stop their
several times I know I assembled them right but then after I painted them they
would not fit together.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Also I lost 3
heads, several arms and other pieces while I was painting them as well as
spilling paint pots on almost finished pieces.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>These models are frustrating the hell out of me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But overall I love the kit apart from the

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Painting Tutorial Part 5: The Glowing Effect<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I have never done Glow Effects before this army so it is new
to me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However I am very pleased with
the results. I did not add glowing effects to the torso because it over powered
the red too much.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I just stuck with
the Eyes and the Guns. Also Steps 1 and 2 are both from the Gauss Tubes, Energy
Tubes and the Eyes but Step 3 is only for the Gauss Tubes.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--o0Bg2uOT9k/UNRrNlUr0_I/AAAAAAAAANw/pyyDPJdmKaU/s1600/Immortal+%232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--o0Bg2uOT9k/UNRrNlUr0_I/AAAAAAAAANw/pyyDPJdmKaU/s1600/Immortal+%232.jpg" height="298" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span><br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Citadel Paints you will need: Sybarite Green and White Scar<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 1: Dry Brush Sybarite Green around the area that is
glowing for both the Eyes, Energy Tubes and Gauss Rods on the Guns.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You want it to be darker by having more paint
closer to the light source and lighter by having less paint the farther away
you get.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Also for the Gauss Tubes try to
Dry Brush out from the raised balls in the barrel and I also added some glow to
the gun frame as well.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b8GAszJV2_8/UNRrVW2rWzI/AAAAAAAAAN4/C1OFCrf9hOA/s1600/Glow+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b8GAszJV2_8/UNRrVW2rWzI/AAAAAAAAAN4/C1OFCrf9hOA/s1600/Glow+1.jpg" height="222" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 2: Make a mix of 1 part Sybarite Green and 1 part White
Scar and then Dry Brush over the Sybarite Green.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You again want it to be darker closer to the
light source and lighter the farther away you get.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> Also you </span>don’t want to go as far out with the
Dry Brushing this time because in real life it would be brighter the closer you
get to the source of the light. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>On the Gauss
tubes again paint out from the raised balls.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZDzVqT6ta6s/UNRra8s79EI/AAAAAAAAAOA/OPvDoIkYpXM/s1600/Glow+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZDzVqT6ta6s/UNRra8s79EI/AAAAAAAAAOA/OPvDoIkYpXM/s1600/Glow+2.jpg" height="171" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 3: Dry Brush with White Scar only around the raised
balls on the Gauss Tubes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You don’t want
to dry brush to much because you don’t want the White Scar to be over powering.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--_6Hy3Xv5N4/UNRrhFZQiAI/AAAAAAAAAOI/TCvWB5XPt2Y/s1600/Glow+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--_6Hy3Xv5N4/UNRrhFZQiAI/AAAAAAAAAOI/TCvWB5XPt2Y/s1600/Glow+3.jpg" height="227" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">4<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span> Step in Starting a New Army: Painting Your Army</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So you got your models, figured out your color scheme, and
assembled them so now it’s time to paint them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>There are several things you will need for painting your models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The first and most obvious is paint I personally
prefer citadel paints but there are many other companies that make good paints
for models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You want to make sure you
have lots of different colors because nothing is worse than finding out you don’t
have the color you need when it comes time to paint.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The next thing you need is Spray Paint for
your models undercoat.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You can use your
regular paint to undercoat however it will take a lot longer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The third thing you will need is paint
brushes I personally use Model Master Brushes I find that they work the best
for me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I use the #2 and #0 Golden
Synthetic Round Brushes I like the synthetic more than Hair brushes which I
think they are called.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I like Synthetic
brushes better because it holds the tip better and for longer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You will also need a palette so you can mix
and thin your paints. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The last thing you
will need is 2 clean cups of water.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>These are so you can was your brushes and to thin your paints.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rg829XXKFDk/UNCoyH_fxGI/AAAAAAAAAK0/PKYyI8zsn78/s1600/Paint+Station.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rg829XXKFDk/UNCoyH_fxGI/AAAAAAAAAK0/PKYyI8zsn78/s1600/Paint+Station.jpg" height="255" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> <a name='more'></a><br />
</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The first Step to
painting your models is the undercoat and to do that you will need Spray Paint.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Not just any Spray Paint you need ones for
models like Citadel and Army Painter.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>These Spray Paints are more expensive but they work a lot better then
something you buy at Wal-Mart.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I got spray
paint for Wal-Mart before and it was terrible it didn’t cover the model and it
all ran into the crevasses of the model.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So you might be asking why do I
need to undercoat my models because after all I am about to put paint on them anyway.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You need to do it because it will look a lot better
if you undercoat your models first trust me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Let’s just say I use to know this guy and he didn’t undercoat his models
and they were the worst I have ever seen.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>So let me give you the basics on Spray Painting. 1. Use a black or
darker color Spray Paints to undercoat if you want a darker looking model and
if you want a brighter model use white or another lighter Spray paint. 2. When
you use your Spray Paint make sure to shake it for a good minute before every
use and then do test spray into the air to clean out the tube. 3. When You
Spray Paint your model you want to go in straight line across the model fast
just fast enough so that it covers the model do this about a foot from your
models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Spray a foot away because if are
to close you will lose all the models detail and if you go to far it will
become grainy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9HzEQS04mD0/UNCo5RaLvjI/AAAAAAAAAK8/8UcmDfO35pI/s1600/Black+Spray+Paint+GW+Citadel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9HzEQS04mD0/UNCo5RaLvjI/AAAAAAAAAK8/8UcmDfO35pI/s1600/Black+Spray+Paint+GW+Citadel.jpg" height="229" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So next I will talk about Paint Brushes. You can get away
with having only one brush.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However it
is better to have one that is bigger to cover large area and one that is
smaller for finer detail work.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Make sure
you wash your brushes in clean water after each time you switch paint because
you do not want to mix your paints by accident. Earlier I mentioned that I
prefer Model Master Brushes this is because I have found they work the
best.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have used GW brushes and I my opinion
they are the worst they never used because they never hold their tip. I have
also tried P3 or most of the army painter and don’t really like them either except
the Army Painter <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Insane Detail Brush
which I do use on occasion.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have also
found that Synthetic brushes hold their tip better than Hair brushes I think
they are called.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When storing your
brushes keep the brush side up don’t store them facing down it is the worst
thing you can do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Also make sure your
brushes keep their tip after you clean them I usually use my lips but use can
use a paper towl or something else.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One
other Important thing is don’t let your paint get to where the bristles meet
the metal because that will ruin your brushes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>If you treat your brushes good they will treat you good treat them bad
and will go through them like hot cakes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fJxVYM6jgwQ/UNCpBfkPAHI/AAAAAAAAALE/5iv9X8zq19c/s1600/Brushes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fJxVYM6jgwQ/UNCpBfkPAHI/AAAAAAAAALE/5iv9X8zq19c/s1600/Brushes.jpg" height="320" width="208" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So now onto the Paint and the Palette there is not a lot to
say here.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I will say is it is a good
Idea to shake your paint bottles before you paint because the pigment and the
water can start to separate when they sit.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>You also might want <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>to thin the citadel
base paints out a little to do this use a drop or two of water to add to the
paint on your palettes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The reason that
you want to thin them out is because if you paint a base paint straight out of
the bottle onto your model then you can get an uneven coat of paint. Your palette
is important because you don’t want to dip your brush in the paint and then put
it straight onto the model because there will be too much paint on your
brush.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I usually take a nice brush full
of paint and then put the paint on the palette and then keep going back to the
palette to get more paint.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You will also
use you palette to mix your paint and thin them out.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another thing I wanted to say is if you can’t
find the right color mix your paints to make one.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have painted whole armies in original
colors that I have mixed together remember you are only limited by your
imagination.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Always remember to make
sure your paints are properly closed when you are done because they will dry
out if left open for a while.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q-pYRQGysSU/UNCpbTB9uJI/AAAAAAAAALM/kQMlp6HtzYc/s1600/All+The+DAmn+Gdub+paints.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q-pYRQGysSU/UNCpbTB9uJI/AAAAAAAAALM/kQMlp6HtzYc/s1600/All+The+DAmn+Gdub+paints.jpg" height="229" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So now let’s talk about actual painting.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When you paint your new army you need to ask yourself
how much time do I want to spend on it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>It is possible to paint a model in 10 to 20 minutes but let’s be honest
it isn’t going to be that good or you can spend 20 hours painting a master
piece.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1
being the 10 min paint job and 10 being the 20 hour paint job I like to do a 6
to 7 so I am going to spend a good 2 to 3 hours per model I paint.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now this might seem like a long time but when
you think about how you just spent all that hard earned money on these models they
should look like they are worth the money you spent on them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nothing is better than the looking at an army
you painted and slaved over on the battlefield.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>It will fill you with pride especially when everyone else is jealous and
asks you to paint their models for them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>If you really don’t want to paint your models you can always pay someone
to do it but it will not be cheap.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I
personally have been paid to paint armies and units for people and if you are
interested I am always happy to help just leave a comment if you want my info
and I can send pictures off some of my other works then just the Necrons I have
on the site.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">This Picture Shows a Space Marine for an army I quickly
painted around 5 years ago on the left an on the right is one of my new Necrons
I have recently painted.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have posted
this is to show the difference between a
quickly painted army and an army you take time on.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The Space marine took me around 30 minutes
back then and I could paint better but I chose to rush that army now I won’t
even use that army because I think it looks like shit.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now compare that to the Necron a model that
took me a good 2 to 3 hours to paint and it looks so much better.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I personally think it’s worth the time but it’s
up to you in the end.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So if you are a beginner and are painting your first army
you are not going to spend 2 to 3 hours on a model because you will be using
different techniques to paint.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For any beginner
there are 2 basic techniques that you need to know the first is Dry
Brushing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Dry Brushing is where you wipe
pretty much all the paint off of your brush and then lightly brush over the
area of the model that you want to highlight. Before you dry brush you need to
put down a solid layer of paint first that is the color you want that area of
the model to be then use a lighter shade of that color to dry bush on top of
that layer of paint to give a highlighted effect on the raised parts of that
area.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The best way to tell if you took
enough paint of the brush it to run it over your finger if only your finger
print gets paint on it your good to dry brush. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When you do this the raised areas will pick up
the paint and the other deeper ones won’t.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>You can dry brush with any of your paints except washes and GW’s Citadel
paints now have special paints made just for dry brushing I haven’t tried them
out but I would think they should work really well.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The other technique is Shading.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is very simple just take a wash like
Arjax Earthshade or Nuln Oil and paint it over an area that you have already put
a layer of paint on.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And like Magic it
will be shaded when it dries.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Use these
2 techniques together first paint a solid layer of paint on then Dry Brush a
lighter shade of the same color and to finish it off use a wash over top and
you will have a half decent looking model.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Once you have been painting for a while you will learn new techniques
like Highlighting and Layering.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Don’t be
discouraged by how your first army looks you will get better a lot better it
just takes time and practice.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another
way for a beginner to paint an army is to use the Army Painter Method I have
never done this put first you paint your model in the different colors that you
want then you dip it in this stuff it’s kind of like a wash and you will end up
with decent looking models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However I
honestly recommend actually painting because you will never learn and get
better if you don’t practice.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When I
started I was terrible I mean terrible but as I got older and more experienced
I have gotten so much better you would never have thought my old models were
painted by me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One thing I would recommend
is getting a book that teaches you how to paint the GW one “How to Paint Citadel
Miniatures” is actually really good and I would recommend it and it even comes
with a DVD where they show you how to do the different techniques.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have been painting for 13 years and still
found a book that teaches you how <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>to
paint useful.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another good way to learn
how to paint is to ask an experienced gamer who knows how to paint if he could
give you a lesson.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you are new you
will be surprised at the number of people willing to help you out especially
because you are a new at this.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The reason I posted this picture is to show how your
Painting will get better over time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
Carnifex is missing an army thanks to my dog a few years ago.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I painted that model probably when I was 14
or 15 so like 7 or 8 years ago.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This was
my first 40k army that I painted and I used dry brushing and inks to do it
because their wasn’t washes back then.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I
would like to thank who ever came up with them they make painting so much
easier.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I use to think that Carnifex I
painted was amazing looking but now I can’t believe that I painted that.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The next was a space marine I painted when I
was 18 so 15 years ago I defiantly got better but I still had some improving to
do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The last on is my latest work as you
can see I have come a long way so don’t be discouraged if you aren’t that good
of a painter you will get better.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am
even getting better every day that I paint I learn something new the only thing
I still need to learn is blending.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Painting an army may seem like it sucks and I use to hate
painting models, but as I got older and better at it I really started to like
paint models more and more.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now painting
models is how I relax and I really enjoy doing it. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One of my favorite things is to see an army I
have painted on the battle field facing another greatly painted army.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">For painting the red areas of
the Necrons you will need the following citadel Paints:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Korne Red, Carroberg Crimsion, Wazdakka Red,
and Squid Orange<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I undercoat all my models in
Chaos Black Spray Paint before I paint them.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 1: Paint the area with a
solid coat of Korne Red.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I like to water
the base paints paints down a little bit but not a lot because of how thick
they are.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When you water the paint down
it will give you a smoother coat of paint. However you might have to apply more
then one layer because the paint will not cover as well. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y1ZfrCE_4KI/UM4m1QehCEI/AAAAAAAAAHY/jMdClJVGOVk/s1600/Step+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y1ZfrCE_4KI/UM4m1QehCEI/AAAAAAAAAHY/jMdClJVGOVk/s1600/Step+1.jpg" height="301" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 2: Wash the Area with
Carroberg Crimsion.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span></span> </div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 3: Apply another coat of
Korne Red.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You do not get the paint in
the resesses because you want thoses areas to be darker. You should also water
down the Korne Red alittle bit again. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h-PXGg8nU5k/UM4nFfg-7OI/AAAAAAAAAHo/xPAJae29f1g/s1600/Step+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h-PXGg8nU5k/UM4nFfg-7OI/AAAAAAAAAHo/xPAJae29f1g/s1600/Step+3.jpg" height="249" width="320" /></a></div>

<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 4: Use Wazdakka Red to
line hightlight all of the edges.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-amVKTna2U0s/UM4nbPqGXZI/AAAAAAAAAHw/jX_OLcAB_kM/s1600/Step+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-amVKTna2U0s/UM4nbPqGXZI/AAAAAAAAAHw/jX_OLcAB_kM/s1600/Step+4.jpg" height="277" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-no-proof: yes;">Step 5:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Use Squid Orange to add another layer of line
hightlights.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>You want the highlights to
not be as thick as the ones you make with the Wazdakka Red.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I also did not hight light all the areas that
I did with the Wazdakka Red when you do this stage Imagine a light shinning
down on the model from the top and only highlight the edges that would receive the
light.</span></span></div>

<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I am going to be doing my painting tutorial in pieces and
then will eventually combine all of them in to one big tutorial.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am going to start with the how I painted
the metal of my Necrons 1st because that is where I start when I paint my
Necrons. I also want to give credit where credit is due.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I got my idea from a painting tutorial called
“Painting Rusty Necron<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Armour” by Garfy from
the blog Tale of Painters. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I based the
way I painted the medal off of this tutorial but I decided to change parts of
it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I will have the link at the bottom
of the page if you wish to view it. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Usually when I paint medal on my models I do a layer of
Ledbelcher then a wash of Nuln Oil then I highlight first with Iron breaker
followed by Runefang Steel.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However I
thought this was to bright looking for what I wanted.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I decided to go for a ore rusted look but
I didn’t like it extremely rusted either. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Then I found that tutorial “Painting Rusty
Necron <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Armour” by Garfy and I liked how
it looked up until the wash but I thought It was a little too dark so I added
some more highlights and I really liked the way it turned out.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the end the medal looks it has a little but
rusting but not a real lot.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So on to the
tutorial.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Paints needed are Citadel Paints including: Warplock Bronze,
Ledbelcher, Iron Breaker, Runefang Steel, and Nuln Oil<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I find That big flat brushes work best for steps I and especially
2 I use model master brusher the picture bellow is the type of brush I am
talking about.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U65Sq_HoEOg/UMyA1YU7cKI/AAAAAAAAAFk/T2Z3bfdbrno/s1600/Big+Ass+Brush.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U65Sq_HoEOg/UMyA1YU7cKI/AAAAAAAAAFk/T2Z3bfdbrno/s1600/Big+Ass+Brush.jpg" height="127" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 1:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Paint all of
the metal areas with a solid coat of Warplock Bronzemake sure that it gets into
all the groves because this is what gives you the rust effect</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gE3Xe1J6glM/UMyA55sUsMI/AAAAAAAAAFs/kDS6WLwf2zg/s1600/Medal+1+WB.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gE3Xe1J6glM/UMyA55sUsMI/AAAAAAAAAFs/kDS6WLwf2zg/s1600/Medal+1+WB.jpg" height="248" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 2:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Do a very
heavy dry brushing of Ledbelcher. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is
important <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>to make sure that you leave a
the Warplock Bronze <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>showing through the
Ledbelcher .</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qBNyrGUoj10/UMyA8BXhqzI/AAAAAAAAAF0/U776IlK3sKI/s1600/Medal+2+L.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qBNyrGUoj10/UMyA8BXhqzI/AAAAAAAAAF0/U776IlK3sKI/s1600/Medal+2+L.jpg" height="218" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 3: I did a Highlight of Iron Breaker over the all the areas
that would get light if the source of light was directly over the model.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For Example in the picture below I painted
the top of the legs and the feet on the front side of the legs. When you do
this step you do not want a lot of paint on your brush because you still want a
little of the Warplock Bronze to show through.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g03ZTKjz02w/UMyA_C798JI/AAAAAAAAAF8/vV9Rqspxa4Y/s1600/Medal+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g03ZTKjz02w/UMyA_C798JI/AAAAAAAAAF8/vV9Rqspxa4Y/s1600/Medal+3.jpg" height="203" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 4: Wash the metal area with the shade Nuln Oil. Don’t give
it a real heavy wash just enough to cover the model.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PhNOltn-Kj4/UMyBZJTi91I/AAAAAAAAAGE/U89Sn3D0dSw/s1600/Medal+4+wash.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PhNOltn-Kj4/UMyBZJTi91I/AAAAAAAAAGE/U89Sn3D0dSw/s1600/Medal+4+wash.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Step 5: Do edge highlights on all the raised edges of the
metal area with Runefang Steel.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-i0xukS9WZtU/UMyBih5abQI/AAAAAAAAAGM/5SUfZsXc1JU/s1600/Medal+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-i0xukS9WZtU/UMyBih5abQI/AAAAAAAAAGM/5SUfZsXc1JU/s1600/Medal+5.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lfJ667V6E1I/UMtlNsBe9_I/AAAAAAAAAEM/1aHAAva6pMU/s1600/Assemb%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lfJ667V6E1I/UMtlNsBe9_I/AAAAAAAAAEM/1aHAAva6pMU/s320/Assemb%2B1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After you figure out your color scheme its time to assemble your models. If you are just starting out you will want to remember to get the mold line off your model before you start to paint. There are a couple ways to accomplish this. The tools you will need are emery boards or files, and either a hobby knife or a citadel clean up kit I use all 4 of them. Warning a hobby knife is very sharp it is easy to cut yourself so be careful and that is another reason I like the citadel clean up kit it is a lot safer. I really like the citadel clean up kit because it is easy to cut too deep with a hobby knife however the clean up kit can’t reach some places a hobby knife can. It’s best to start with cutting the mold line out then use the hobby knife for any you can’t get to with the clean up kit and then use the emery boards or files to smooth the surface of the model out. One thing to note is that the emery boards will give you a much smoother surface then the files will. A lot of GW’s newer kits are easy because they have less mold lines but the older kits can take forever if you want to get all the mold lines out. The Necron Warriors fall into this group and take a long time to get all the mold lines out. This is not a step that you need to do, however I highly recommend it because it will be worth it in the end and your models will look a lot better.
When it comes to assembly before painting I prefer to leave most of the model apart and paint it in pieces this is. I paint my models in pieces because if you assemble the entire model before you start to paint it is a lot hard to reach some parts of the model and your paint job will not be as detailed. If you paint your models in pieces make sure that you take your time when assembling the model after you finish painting and don’t rush gluing the model together because you can ruin your paint job.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
As far as what type of glue you should use super glue works for medal, fine cast and resin models. Super glue can take a long time to dry so you can buy a product called zip kicker it accelerates the drying process to almost instantaneously. However there are a couple things you want to remember if you use zip kicker 1. Do not spray on a painted model it will destroy your paint job 2. Be careful if you get super glue on your skin before you spray it because it will burn like a mother if the two mix while on your skin 3. The bond will not be as strong as would have been if you just let the super glue dry on its own. One thing I have used to help with the 3rd problem is after u use the zip kicker whip where area so it has no zip kicker left on it then a little later put a little super glue all around the edge of the joint. If you are assembling plastic models then use plastic glue it works the best I recommend using model master plastic glue because it comes in a plastic container with a small metal tube up top which makes it easy to control where the glue goes and how much comes out.
<br />
<br />
<br />
Another Important tool in assembling models that needs to be mentioned is Green Stuff. Green stuff is amazing it has the consistency of silly puddy that when left to dry hardens to a rock like state. It can be used for something as to fill in the gaps left from assembling models to sculpting entire models made of nothing but green stuff it is truly a modeler’s best friend. For this article I am going to talk about citadel liquid green stuff. Liquid green stuff is like regular green stuff except that you don’t have to mix it and it can be applied with a paint brush. This stuff is a must have in my opinion I use it to fill in gaps left from assembling my models. When I use it I put a layer on then wipe it off so it only remains in the gap then I will this repeat this step depending on how bad the gap is. After that I paint another layer of liquid green stuff on and leave it to dry. After 30 minutes I use an emery board and file over the area until it is smooth. You can also use regular green stuff for this however in my opinion it is much harder and takes a lot more time to do. It is important to remember never to leave the liquid green stuff bottle open for a long period of time or it will dry out and you will not be able to use it again. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eEKUXGySzD4/UMtlhapSngI/AAAAAAAAAEU/U30kdIp1htE/s1600/Liquid%2BGrren.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eEKUXGySzD4/UMtlhapSngI/AAAAAAAAAEU/U30kdIp1htE/s320/Liquid%2BGrren.jpg" height="160" width="223" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My experiences with my Necron army so far has only been with the Warriors, Immortals and the Overlords from the Command Barge kit. When assembling the Immortals READ the instructions I can’t stress this enough. This is one of those kits that you have to read the instructions on, because the tubes have to go on a certain gun and then they have to match a certain back. Since I didn’t read the instructions the on my first 5 I assembled I pretty much wasted a box of Immortals by something as stupid as not reading the instructions. As far as the warriors go there are a lot of mold lines since they are an older kit and they are hard to get out. It takes longer to get the mold lines out then to paint the dang models. As far as the Overlord goes be careful when cutting his legs out because his left leg tend bend at the ankle every time I cut it out. This happened 3 times for me no matter how I cut his legs out but it wasn’t to bad and was a simple fix by simply bending his ankle back. The other thing to keep in mind with the Overlord from this kit is when cutting out the Overlords back the there are parts of his cape that are attached to the frame and it is easy to cut part of the cape off. The best solution is to cut some of the frame off with the cape and then cut the extra plastic off of the cape.<br />

<br />
Step 4 painting will be up in a couple of days and then I am planning on doing my painting tutorial.

It took me a week to figure out this color scheme and I really like it. The only problem is it takes forever to paint them but I think it's worth it. I plan on posting a tutorial soon. What do you guys think?<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">2nd Step in Starting a New Army: Picking A Color Scheme</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rm9jyCCJmRY/UMmPsDlmvII/AAAAAAAAABc/59b7uScqaXU/s1600/Paint%2BMess.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rm9jyCCJmRY/UMmPsDlmvII/AAAAAAAAABc/59b7uScqaXU/s320/Paint%2BMess.jpg" height="256" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
So you got your models and are ready to build your new army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However before you paint your next master piece there is a step not often talked about and that is choosing your
color scheme.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is very important to
pick your color scheme and to take the time to find one you that you really
like. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The time you take to pick your
color scheme can be the difference between an amazing army that your friends
will be jealous of or an alright army that no one looks twice at.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><a name='more'></a></span><o:p></o:p></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The first step in choosing a color scheme is to read your
codex to get a feel for the army’s personality and any other black library books
as well if you want.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the codex, GW
has pictures of the models the Heavy Medal Team painted and these can give you
some Ideas for a paint scheme.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After
that another good way to get ideas for the color scheme of your army is to go
online.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Look through forums, blogs and
other websites and you can find all different color schemes people have come up
with.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another thing you can do especially
if you are doing a space marine, ork or tau army id go to the bolter and
chainsword forum and use the painter it is a good way to try out different
color schemes without ever having to paint anything.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I haven’t been able to find a Necron one but
you can use the ones they have to get a general idea of how the colors will go
together. Or they have a Necron one on the dawn of war games for pc I believe but
you can’t go into a lot of detail if I recall.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">After you come up with a color scheme it’s a good idea to
test it out on a model.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I generally try
a couple different color schemes out to see which one looks the best.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After you find the one that you like try a
couple different variations of it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ll
give an Example say you decide to paint your Necrons blue and silver try
different colors for the energy weapons and cables.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The different colors can make a big
difference on the overall look of your army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>One very important thing to remember don’t just figure out your color
scheme in your head and go straight to painting your army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Because if are like most people and paint
groups of models at a time you might find out after you are finished that it
looks terrible and you wasted all that time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Also just because something looks good in your head it might not look
good in real life or the color scheme you see on the internet might not look
nearly as good when you do it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">For my Necron army it took a week for me to figure out my
color scheme.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I really wanted to do
purple however it just didn’t look right.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Then I tried blue, green and finally red which I was really happy with
and ended up sticking with.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For the
silver parts I tried to do it how I painted the medal on all my other armies
but it didn’t look good.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I tried a
couple of different ways that I found on the internet and ended up using a
variation of one of them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One of the problems I tend to have with
painting armies is that I am a perfectionist when it comes to my painting for
some reason and that is the only thing I am a perfectionist about in my
life.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Everything else I do half ass
except when painting my models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is
good but at the same time it takes longer for me to paint my army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One thing I noticed I always tend to use the
same colors on all my armies for the most part.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The colors I usually use are red and gray.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am not using grey for my Necrons but I am
using red. I don’t know why that is maybe because it is my favorite color.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I will be posting a picture of my Necron color scheme
hopefully tomorrow I have to try and find a decent camera or I’ll have to use
my phone or ipad.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The next step for
starting a new army will be modeling and then painting and hopefully I have
those up by the end of the week if not sooner. How do you guys come up with a color scheme for a new army?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Thanks for reading let me know what you guys think.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">1<span style="font-size: x-small;">st</span> Step in Starting a New Army: Getting the Models<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The first thing for a new army is buying the models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I got all my new Necrons over Black Friday
weekend because of all the sales online.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Some people prefer to buy the models as they go other people like me <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>buy everything at once.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zl6V-q4ilSI/UNJAWZ6xKMI/AAAAAAAAANc/QVOMv9wYiHo/s1600/Big+Box+of+Crons+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zl6V-q4ilSI/UNJAWZ6xKMI/AAAAAAAAANc/QVOMv9wYiHo/s1600/Big+Box+of+Crons+1.jpg" height="230" width="320" /></a></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">However before you start your new army you have to choose
what army you want to do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One of the
best ways to figure out what army to choose is to read the army books for the
armies you are thinking about doing so you can get to know all about the different
armies.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I was debating between a couple
of different armies but I ended up choosing Necrons.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I choose Necrons for a couple of
reasons.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The first is I want build and
paint most of my army during winter break and Necrons are one of the fastest armies to
do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The second is they a recent codex so
they will not be getting an overhaul any time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The third reason is I think Necrons are cool and are different then my
last 2 armies which were Space Marines and Space Wolves.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The last reason is Necrons are a competitive
army and I really enjoy playing in tournaments.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The most important thing however when choosing an <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>army is to make sure that you like the models
because nothing is worse than painting an army that you hate.</span><br />
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">After you choose your army you need to figure out what to
buy. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The first step if you are like me
and buy everything at once is to read blogs and forums on the internet to
figure out what are the good and bad units in the codex.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Because you don’t want to buy your models
then assemble and paint them only to find out a unit sucks and you should have
bought another unit instead.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The next thing
you should do is look at army lists people post online and get a feel for what
a general army looks like.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After that it’s
usually a good idea to make a couple of lists on your own to figure out what
exactly you want in your army. After you make a couple of you own army lists you
should post your list ideas online to see what other people think as well
but remember its your army so you can use any models that you want in it as
long as it follows the FOC.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So after I did all my research I started to order my
models.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For troops I wanted mainly
Immortals instead of Warriors because I think they are cooler but I still
ordered some warriors as well in case I ever wanted some.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I got 40 Immortals total that’s 8 boxes
and I also ordered a battle force so I had a full unit of warriors and a
transport as well as some extra Immortals.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>When It comes to troops I am a firm believer in trying to have 1 unit
for every 500 points especially in 6<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span> edition where a lot of the
missions involve objectives.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So that
took care of my troops next I looked at HQ choices I ordered 2 Command Barges
because I think their awesome and most people recommend you run them in pairs
in 6<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span> edition to get the most out of them. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Next I ordered a finecast Over Lord because I
like the model and started to think about my Royal Court for my Overlords.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For my Royal Court I got 3 Crypteks and 1 Lord
with a res orb if I decide I need any more I plan on converting them from the
bits I have left over. I also ordered a Destroyer Lord because I want a HQ
choice that can go with Wraith or Triarch Praetorians because none of the other
HQ choices are jump infantry.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So that
took care of My troops and HQ I only ordered 2 special characters Anrakyr the
Traveler and Vanguard Obyron because I liked the models but will probally not
to use them because where I live we have a no special character rule at are local
club.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So next I looked at Fast Attack section which is supposed to
be the best section in our book.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>From
everything I have read online Wraiths are one of the best units in are book.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I decided I wanted Wraiths and not just 1
squad but 2 so I ordered 4 boxes so I have 12 total.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
store ordered from sells bits so I got 5 scarab bases so I would have a full
squad along with the ones from the battle force.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I also wanted a fun unit so I ordered 2 boxes
of Tomb Blades to make a full unit. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After I got models for the fast attack Section
I looked at Elites now Elites are not the best section of are codex but I
really like the models and rules for some of them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I ordered Triarch Praetorians/ Lynchguards
which really look cool so I got 3 boxes of them and I plan to make an 8 man squad
of Triarch Praetorians to go with my Destroyer Lord and a 7 man Lynchguard
squad.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I also ordered a Triarch Stalker
cause they look sick and shouldl be fun to play with.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The Last Section left was Heavy Support which is another of
the good sections in our codex.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I
started with 3 Annihilation Barges because for the price you can’t bet em.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After that I ordered 2 Doom/ Night Scythes because
right now from what I hear flyers are amazing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I plan to make the Doom/ Night Sythes so I can switch between the 2 so
then I can make them into whatever I need for my current list.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The last thing I ordered was another Ghost/
Doomsday ark but I’m not sure which 1 I will make it into.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The only thing I didn’t order that I was
thinking about was a Monolith<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>but from
what I hear they are nowhere as good as they use to be but I can always get one
I the Future.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So Heres the total list of what I ordered: 5 Command/
Annihilation Barge boxes, 1 Battle Force, 5 Scarabs, 8 Immortal/ Deathmark
Boxes, 4 Canoptek Wraith Boxes, 2 Tomb Blade Boxes, 2 Doom/ Night Scythes, 1
Ghost/ Doomsday Ark,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>3 Triarch Praetorians/
Lynchguard boxes, 1 Triarch Stalker, 1 Overlord, 1 Lord w/ res orb, 3 Crypteks,
2 Special Characters<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I have everything I need now to start to make my army.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now the Next Step is deciding on a color
scheme which I will post about.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After
that Its time to assemble and paint everything.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Thanks for reading if you have any recommendations for
future posts plez let me know or if there is something I can do different.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is my first blog so I ma new at this and
would appreciate any comments or recommendations to make this blog better. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Happy Holidays Everyone, Grizwald<o:p></o:p></span></div>

This blog is about my new Necron army and my experiences building and playing with my new models. I plan on posting articles on list building, effectiveness of different units, tactics, and tutorials. If their is anything else you guys want me post about don't hesitate to ask.<br />
<br />
Let me tell you guys a little bit about myself. I am a 23 year old college student who majors in history and I have been wargaming since I was 10. I started with WHFB then moved on to 40k and Warmachine. Now I only play 40k and Warmachine however it has been a year or two since I last played a game. My 40k armies include Chaos Space Marines, Space Marines, Bugs, Space Wolves, Grey Knights and Tau however I have sold all my armies except Spaces Wolves. I enjoy both playing at the local gaming club and playing in tournaments. However I have yet to win a tournament but I have won best painted army several times.<br />
