Painting Tutorial Part 5: The Glowing Effect

Painting Tutorial Part 5: The Glowing Effect

I have never done Glow Effects before this army so it is new to me.  However I am very pleased with the results. I did not add glowing effects to the torso because it over powered the red too much.  So I just stuck with the Eyes and the Guns. Also Steps 1 and 2 are both from the Gauss Tubes, Energy Tubes and the Eyes but Step 3 is only for the Gauss Tubes.

Citadel Paints you will need: Sybarite Green and White Scar

Step 1: Dry Brush Sybarite Green around the area that is glowing for both the Eyes, Energy Tubes and Gauss Rods on the Guns.  You want it to be darker by having more paint closer to the light source and lighter by having less paint the farther away you get.  Also for the Gauss Tubes try to Dry Brush out from the raised balls in the barrel and I also added some glow to the gun frame as well.

Step 2: Make a mix of 1 part Sybarite Green and 1 part White Scar and then Dry Brush over the Sybarite Green.  You again want it to be darker closer to the light source and lighter the farther away you get.  Also you don’t want to go as far out with the Dry Brushing this time because in real life it would be brighter the closer you get to the source of the light.  On the Gauss tubes again paint out from the raised balls.

Step 3: Dry Brush with White Scar only around the raised balls on the Gauss Tubes.  You don’t want to dry brush to much because you don’t want the White Scar to be over powering.
